Camera Positioners
Application
Our multi-axis Camera Positioner systems are used as part of a probing system to view the probe tips as they make contact with the PCB's test pads, enabling the tester to set both probe tips to the same height as the test pads, ensuring that both probe tips make contact with the test pads at the same time.
The systems include a Dyno-Lite USB camera in a custom adapter at the end of the lockable multi-axis flexible arm, which allows the camera to be placed, and held in place, in order to view the probe tips as they touch the test pads when taking measurements with your VNA or TDR. XYZ 50TPI manual controls are used to quickly and easily move the camera from one set of test pads to another during the testing process.
The camera connects to a PC using a USB interface and included software that display the two camera images at the same time, one image for each of the two probes in the probe kit. The ability to visually confirm that both probe tips are making contact on the test board makes testing much easier and faster, significntly reducing test time. The best method to verify the probe tips are connected to the testpads is to set the camera directly in front of the probe tips at about a 40 degree angle, ~5 in./12.7 cm from the probe tips/test pads. Then adjust the black oversized focus control knob on the side of the camera to get a clear view of the probing area.
